Hello Nicole,

Probably the quickest way is to use the merge utility once you have
installed the upgrade. Move focus into the JAWS interface of the upgraded
version of JAWS and then use Alt with U to bring up the utility drop-down
menu. Use down arrow key to the Merge manager choice and press enter key.
You will get a list of JAWS versions that you can choose from and a browse
button that you can use if the version you want the dictionary files to be
imported from is not shown in the list. Use the OK button to start the
merge.

You can also copy all the JDF files in your JAWS shared folder and replace
the .JDF files in the shared folder of the upgrade. Go into the program
groups from the start menu and find the version of JAWS from which you want
the JDF files. Find the "explore JAWS" menu choice and use right arrow key
to expand the group. Use down arrow key to the "shared settings" choice and
press enter key. If you are using Vista or Windows 7 then you can use
CTRL+E at this point, type in JDF and press enter key. Use down arrow into
the list of results. You can then select all and copy the JDF files to the
clipboard. You can then open the JAWS version in the program group that you
want to paste the dictionary files into and go into its shared settings
folder. Paste the JDF files into this folder and allow overwriting. The
default JDF file and individual application JDF files should be included.

If you want to get a copy of the files before upgrading then after copying
the JDF files just create a folder to keep them in until you are ready to
paste them.

Again, I think it is probably faster for you to just use the merge utility.

Take care.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Dictionary Manager

Is there a way to save the dictionary manager settings to a file so they can
be pasted into the next Jaws upgrade?
