Hi all,
I tried the clean uninstall option. It does a thorough scan of your system to check what software may be partially uninstalled or can't be uninstalled at all. So it should detect Avast and you can go ahead and uninstall if it was found. On my machine it couldn't find any applications that could be uninstalled with this option.
Good luck.

This sounds promising. I wonder how well it would work with really
tricky things like Avast?

I aim to please. It's just sometimes my aim is off.

App Remover sounds cool! It's sure very accessible with JAWS. The
application opens like a web page, so you can use the virtual pc
cursor to interact with this application. It found and removed
MalwareBytes and did a very good job I must say. I'll put MalwareBytes
back on but I was testing to see how it all works. I'll now go and try
the second feature which is to do a clean uninstall of any stubborn
software I may have.

I had a problem installing my antivirus program because there was
previously
installed software. The support group for my antivirus recommended me
to go
to this site and download appremover. When I ran it it found two
packages
that had to be removed. The program was quite jaws friendly. It is
also free
for personal use.
