He is referring to the protocol of connection. "N" is the most recent and at 
present fastest level of data transfer. "G" is still quite common and "B" is 
almost not heard of any longer. Currently I'm on a "G" router outside my 
house writing this email message.

Is " N " the brand name of the router?  Also would you please explain what
you mean by a backwards compatible router and also what " G " is?  I have an

If it's in your budget, try and get an n router. They're backwards
compatible so you should have no issues with g.
