Hi.
Usually, I am quite good at figuring things out for myself, but I do have a
question. I have sort of a unique setup here. I am a professional
musician, so basically, here's the deal. I have a Sound Blaster Audigy as
well as an onboard SigmaTel audio chip. I'm perfectly aware, that you can
set JFW through Utilities/SoundCard to which ever device you want to use for
jfw, but, here's the deal that makes this kind a tricky. I have a little
dinky dank set of pretty much good for nothing Gateway speakers that're
sitting up on my desk. They're plugged into my Audigy. What I want is for
JFW to not only come through those speakers, but all my windows sounds etc.
to also come through them. However, when I play Audio, be it music, be it a
podcast, be it an internet feed, be it midi output, etc. I want that! audio,
to be mapped through my SigmaTel. I know you're probably lookin at me
going, ok, symple. Set jaws through your audigy then set your default sound
in control panel to your sigmatel so that all other sounds go through it.
See... that's the thing though. that's where you'd not be understanding.
What I wanna do's slightly more tricky, as I don't want my windows soundsx
coming through my SitmaTel. Escentially, the only! thing I want coming
through my SigmaTel where I hve my huge JVL speakers, and believe you me,
these things're big oal honkers if ever I've seen any... I only! want my
audio to be outputted through them. I do not want eloquence, nor! ok, here
comes the key element: nor! do I want my windows sounds coming through the
SigmaTel. Basically, what I'm trying to do is route the output just! from
ITunes specifically, through my SigmaTel. I know under the device tab of
Direct Sound, in WinAmp, if you go ctrl+P for prefs, O, until you get to
output, tab thrice to the configure button, making sure direct sound is
active, there is a combo box where you then can select the audio device to
use. That's all great and all. Some programs do! give you this option, to
individually route audio to a certain device. I've not seen this though in
any version of Itunes. Even on the output tab of prefs, when you do
ctrl+comma from ITunes, I don't see anything. I'm wonderring if there is a
3rd party plug in I could get to do this with ITunes, or maybe an I N I file
I could open in Notepad and modify to force ITunes to use the SigmaTel, or
maybe a reg key in regedit I could modify or add a d word value to, to make
this happen.
If anyone has any ideas, let me know. Being I'm a professional musician,
and have a very high end studio setup here, I really would like to get this
working, being ITunes is my preference for listenning to music, in most
cases, over winamp, with very very few exceptions.
I got WinAmp to do it, now we just gotta figure out ITunes, if there even be
a way.
Chris.
