Hello Susie Q,
You do not have to save the .DOC file as a text file to transfer it to the Victor Stream. If you have the latest firmware for the Stream installed, the .DOC file types can be transferred and used. The .DOCX file type introduced in Word 2007 requires the soft pack to be purchased before that type can be used on the Stream. I put together a document for one of my clients a while ago, and transferring a .DOC file was included in the information. I have a link to that file further down in this message. The document is set up with a table of contents, links, headings and bookmarks. Use insert F7 to list links when using JAWS, and use up or down arrow key in the list of links to find the one you want to move focus to and then press enter key to move to that part of the document. If you prefer, you can use CTRL+Shift+F5 to list bookmarks, use up and down arrow keys to the bookmark to move to and press the enter key to move focus to the bookmark in the document. If you are using a mouse then you can hold down the control key and left click on a link in the table of contents to move to the area of the document pointed to by the link. If you use a later version of JAWS that includes the use of quick navigation keys then you can use them as well. Use JAWS key Z to turn the quick keys mode on and then press H to move heading to heading or B to move bookmark to bookmark. Use shift key with the B or H to move to the previous bookmark or heading in the document. Use JAWS key Z to move out of quick navigation mode. Transferring a Word document is included in the file. In addition to the link for the document dealing with transferring files from the computer to the Victor Stream, I am also including a link to a file for upgrading the firmware in the Victor Stream and a link to the latest version of Humanware Companion. Write me off list if you need any help with upgrading the Stream or Humanware Companion software. The links shown below are in the following order: 1. The .DOC file with information about transferring files to the Stream. 2. The .DOCX copy of the same file, which is for Word 2007 or 2010. It can also be read if you are using an earlier version of Word but have the file converters installed. 3. A link to a file for upgrading the firmware in Victor Stream. 4. A link to the latest version of Humanware Companion. Make sure that your Victor Stream is authorized to use the latest upgrade before doing the upgrading procedure. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3951772/Victor%20Stream%20Transferring%20Procedures. doc http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3951772/Victor%20Stream%20Transferring%20Procedures. docx http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3951772/ca_en-303VRC-3_2_3.zip http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3951772/HumanWareCompanion-MultiLang-3_2_5.exe Take care.
