I agree-I had the same experience and ordered MS Office 2007 from Amazon.
They claim in their documentation that they are trying to be accessible but
I think they are not trying very hard or they would have some blind users
sending them feedback.  Sometimes you get what you pay for.

No there are parts of openoffice that are inaccessible and these are
scattered throughout openoffice. I tried it and then found the
inaccessibility and my frustration with it was a deal breaker.
