Try using the alt and down arrow to open the combox or drop down menu

Hello i have a problem with a combo box on a web site.
I need to open the box and then select from a drop down menue, but each time
i open the box with the space bar i can only get to the first option and not
pass it?
i use windows xp, jaws 12 and recent version on exploer.
