hello there;

are you sure your using Outlook express? if I check your message properties,
I see,

Microsoft windows mail.
regardless,
you should still see,
messages automatically read on/off in the insert+v=adjust jaws options.

again, press the letter "m" after you've pressed insert+v.

No, all messages, short or long.

I have ALT-TABBED in and out because I have been switching between Jaws versions too but that doesn't help. It is something in Jaws 11, Jaws 7 works fine which of course begs the question about upgrading.

Is this when the message is only one or two lines?
I had that difficulty as well and now I alt tab away and back
then say all and it reads.

David,
while this is an option in the settings for Jaws 7 and 9 and probably
elsewhere it is not a selection in Jaws 11.

Anyway, it isn't the fact that the message isn't immediately read when open, the body of the message just isn't there, it is invisible to the pc cursor
in Jaws 11 when the message is open.

Bits of it can be read with the Jaws cursor and if one is patient enough to use paging keys and return to the Jaws cursor the message can be read using the Jaws cursor but it is invisible to the PC cursor. Arrow keys don't read, Jaws key and arrow doesn't read line, the text is simply invisible to Jaws
with the PC cursor.

I have sent an e-mail to Freedom Scientific Customer Service this morning
but so far nothing but an automated response, I expect they will send
something later.

Dale leavens.

hello there;

give this a try;

1, in OE,

insert+v for adjust jaws options,

2, press the letter "m" until you hear;
messages automatically read on.

you should press the letter "m" twice to hear this.

if it's off, spacebar to turn on.

I don't have that option. I have:

1. Smart word reading
2. Language Detect
3. custom labels
4. stop words exception dictionary

I don't have any idea what that is unless it is a trap to catch those bad words which cripples jaws when encountered.

Thanks for the try though.

Updated Janet's computer running XP Home with Jaws 11 the other day and now it won't read the body of e-mail messages in Outlook Express. The Jaws cursor will read what is in view but not the PC cursor. I don't see anything
in settings (Jaws key+V that might explain this.

Can anyone tell me what is going on?

Reverting to Jaws 7 and all works as it should.

Thanks for any help with this.

Ooopse! there goes the electricity and along with it my WiFi and the ADSL
modem. This will have to go when the power comes back on.
