It's much easier to just be in the table, at the point you want to be, and hit the applications key. You can choose to insert a row above, below, a column or a cell.

Hit alt, then go into the ribbon to insert a row or column. I forget which
catergory, perhaps home, then down arrow, then tab til you find it.

According to Kathy Ann's tutorial, and to the Word 2007 key tips page, to
add a row above the one where I am in a table I press alt plus j l a.
Pressing these keys returns a submenu headed 'menu commands' including
OpenBook and Duxbury. Arrowing through the upper ribbon to the layout tab

and pressing down arrow returns a list of submenus including 'clipboard,
font, paragraph, styles, and editing.  So how do I insert a row above the
current row in a table???
