Dear Victoria,

I am sorry, I am not familiar with Windows 7. Neither am I all that familiar with adjusting Internet Explorer.

As I remember you can use the Jaws cursor when you hear the pop-up sound and move with it to near the top of the screen where there is a place to right click and allow the pop-up and the download however you would be better to go through the Security settings of Internet Explorer I think it is near or at the bottom of the tools Menu. I can't tell you exactly under which tab but it is in the security settings. Enable pop-ups there before you go to the Site to download the application.

You might put this out to the general list, I am pretty sure someone will be used to this sort of problem and be able to give more precise instructions.

Dale Leavens.

Hi Dale, Thank you very much for this notification! I had no idea that this accessible Kindle software exited.

May be you could help me? When I tried to download it, it was blocked by my Pop Up blocker.

Do you know how to tell the Windows XP3 Internet Explorer 7, to allow a download that has been blocked?

Is there any keyboard command we can use, as soon as we hear the "Block" sound, to continue the download?

Many thanks! Vicky

Here is a new and presumably Jaws accessible application.

I would prefer a fully portable e-book reading device such as my sighted colleagues have available to them and will probably so inform them, I don't much fancy sitting at a computer for my recreational reading but there may be many on this list who will find this of interest and value.

Dear blind-inter...@amazon.com subscriber,

Amazon.com is releasing a new version of Kindle for PC that adds accessibility features designed for blind and low-vision customers.

Kindle for PC with Accessibility Plugin is a free, downloadable application for your Windows PC. It provides the following accessibility features: text-to-speech reading with adjustable voice settings, voice-guided menu navigation, large font sizes, high contrast reading mode, keyboard navigation, and accessible shortcuts.

With this software, for the first time ever, the entire collection of English language books in the Kindle Store can be read aloud. With over 750,000 English language titles, Amazon offers the largest selection of accessible ebooks. In order to use the text-to-speech feature, an external screen reader program must be installed and running on the Windows PC.

The free download is available at www.amazon.com/kindle/accessibility.

We welcome your feedback at kindle-pc-accessibility-feedb...@amazon.com.

Sincerely,
The Kindle Team
