Dear Miss Kathy,

the ocr that comes with jaws is not for scanning hardcopy printed material that you would put on a scanner but it performs ocr (text recognition) on items on the computer screen. This is similar to you importing an image _picture)file of printed material into your favorite ocr and having it recognized.

You do not need a scanner for the ocr that comes with jaws and therefore do not need to worry about compatibility. Rather you should check if there are any compability requirements with the ocr program you scan your books, mail, etc. with.
