Defragging is available for any drive. Unless you delete a lot of programs
and large files, defragging isn't necessary on a frequent basis. You need
to balance the benefit of slightly quicker file access on a defragged disk
against the extra disk activity generated by the defrag process.
The reason why defragging isn't recommended as often on an SSD disk is that
the solid-state disks have a limited number of read/rewrite cycles. Also,
the more read/write cycles you do, the amount of time that the floating gate
transistors will store data is reduced. Since you don't have the seek time
of a head searching for magnetic data on a hard disk platter with a
solid-state drive, I see very little reason to ever defrag them.

I read some ware that you should do it every month. Hold on a minut, if
defragging SSD drives is bad, then why is the option even available for

controversy on this issue. In the old days when hard drives were much
smaller, it was necessary to defrag fairly frequently. But today's high
capacity drives probably require less frequent defragging. I have read

Think of it this way:
Since we have to rely on what the program tells us, and we can't really
dispute the results,
then all that remains, is to find what works best with Jaws, and we are
comfortable using.
The important thing is that you run maintenance on a regular basis.

Defragmenting your computer periodically can greatly enhance the
