Never had it work like that with any IE browser. However, when on a link and do a shift + enter it opens that link up in new window. Found nothing about it doing any thing with pop ups unless used with control + shift enter.
Have ben using that shift + enter sense IE6 just for the purpose stated above.

Hi Annette,
No, the Shift + Enter is for bypassing the pop-up blocker,
which blocks pop-up windows that may contain advertisements.
and the Alt + N, is to access the information bar.
The information bar notification sound alerts you that a program download
has been blocked.
This occurs many times when a IE add-on is required, such as a direct X
component.
Both of these are security features of Internet Explorer.

David and Rick,

Does Alt+n and Shift+Enter give you the same result when dealing with the
Pop-Up Blocker?

Thanks,
Annette

Another possibility might be that the information bar is popping up as a
secondary security feature. If this is the case you may access it by hitting
the key combination of alt + N.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Click sound when activating download link

Hello list
I hope someone can help. On many websites I encounter the problem that when
I press enter on a link to start a download I hear a click on the pc speaker
but the download does not start. When I press the application key and choose
to open in a new window the new window opens and from there I can activate
the link. Does anyone know whether it is a setting which got changed in
windows or internet explorer. I use win xp service pack 3 and ie7.
Regards
Fanus
