Outlook 2010
JAWS 12

My student receives a daily email with an Excel attachment showing the previous day's sales information for his company. Tabbing to the attachment, he presses enter to open it, and JAWS does not speak. Reading at the top of the page with the JAWS cursor we find 'open quick save' and some other options. Clicking on 'open' displays the spreadsheet, but JAWS can't read it.

Two lines below the top of the screen is a message saying something like 'This document came via e-mail and might really screw up your computer'. On the same line there is a "click for more information", and to the right of that 'enable editing'. Left click on 'enable editing' would make the spread sheet editable, except that at this point the cursor will not move from cell to cell. Alt+tab often fixes this, and if not unloading and reloading JAWS does.

Is there a setting in Outlook that will just accept this attachment without fussing about where it came from? Is there an easier way to enable JAWS to read it than going through "enable editing"? Can I enable editing with the PC cursor? can I tell Outlook to just believe in my attachments and leave me alone????

thanks much,

Ann
