Ann
Do you mean
insert 3 not f3?
Isn't that the pass through command?

Or press insert+f3 to pass through JAWS, and then control+f.

Switching off the virtual cursor with insert+z in Internet Explorer and

While that may be true, for all practical purposes, the Windows search
command in IE is overridden by the JAWS Find command when you press
Control-F.

Rick has it right. Internet Explorer does and did utilise control f,
before JAWS, for its 'find on this page' command. (you can see that
command in IE's edit menu.) It's more limited than JAWS has it, but it
does exist.

That's not quite true. Some programs, notably Internet Explorer, have
no Windows search command of their own, and in such cases , Control-F,
as well as JAWS key-Control-F, both invoke the JAWS Find command.

Hi Gerald,
Control + F, is a Windows command, and not Jaws.
This will open the Windows Search utility.
The Jaws command is, Jaws Key + Control + F,
and does use the F3 and Shift F3 .

Press Control-F to initiate the JAWS Find command. Press F3 to search
forward and Shift-F3 to search backward. Press JAWS key-Control-F to
invoke
the JAWS Find command in Outlook Express, Firefox, or other programs in
which Control-F doesn't work.

I am embarrassed to say I can't remember the key strokes for the jaws
find
or search command. I would appreciate someone refreshing my memory.
Also
with which combination of keys do I advance the search if the original
search string doesn't change? Thank you, smile.
