I haven't bothered using control J because it tells me the progress without that. It does not say when the download is complete but when I don't hear anything, I check where I am with insert t or insert b and if I'm back in the list of books, I know it's done.

What I'm doing is after I press enter on the download link, I press alt S. I hear the progress of the download. If I don't, I press insert B. The download goes to the downloads folder on my computer. I then cut and paste the zip file to my books folder in My Documents, where companion can find it. I have chosen not to change the download path for books because all downloads would then end up in that books folder. I now have a win7 computer, IE9, and jaws 13. The download is very fast. If I just press alt s after I enter on the download link, I don't get into difficulty. If I press alt N, things can get more complicated.
