Hi Melissa,
Those settings are not necessarily correct in all cases.
I have A T&T U-Verse service, and here are my settings for Outlook Express:
My incoming mail server is a POP3 server.
Incoming mail (POP3): pop.att.yahoo.com
Outgoing mail (SMTP): smtp.att.yahoo.com

My server requires authentication checkbox checked.

Server Port Numbers
Outgoing mail (SMTP): 465
This server requires a secure connection (SSL) checkbox checked
Incoming mail (POP3): 995
This server requires a secure connection (SSL) checkbox checked

Also, if the customer is using an e-mail address other than one issued by A
T&T,
it will have to be verified with them before mail can be sent using that
address.

HTH,
Rick Justice

outbound is:
outbound.att.net
your username is
[email protected]
check ssl auth for outgoing and incomming
check the box that says that your server requires authentication. I'll be
here the rest of the day if you need more help.

Hello there;
What do you have for the outgoing server settings.

U-Verse

It wouldn't matter what email client you use as long as you have the
incoming pop settings and out going smtp settings, the log in pass for
the account, and have use authentication check. The change to 587 was a
port change not speed.
Even OE can do any account out there. but if you just have one setting not
right. You will get problems. For your problem I would check if
authentication is checked under server tab in properties for that account.

I have XP home and 13. Yesterday, I had Uverse, through AT&T,
installed. They gave a new modem and router. Since then, I am unable to

else  with the computer seems to work well. When I am on the internet,
and access my e mail,  I am able to send messages that way.   After
talking to tech support at Uverse, I was told that my O E needs to be
configured to work with Uverse.    I’ve gone through the settings
in O E for accounts/properties/etc. The only change that seemed major
was increasing the speed in the “port” section for outgoing
messages to 587. Â Â I also have a second computer that is working on
wifi, and I now have the same, “send” issue.   Are there any other
settings I need to change? Or, does anyone have suggestions on how to
configure O E with Uverse? Â On the same topic, if I were to change to
Outlook, what should I be aware of? Is it an easy upgrade and would it
work better with future computer changes? Â Â What would I need to do
to transition from O E to Outlook? And, would this be a good thing to
do since, O E seems to be less compatible with upcoming technology? Â
