hi,

pdf format can be just fine depending on what you want to do with it and how it was made.

its good for sending forms, but we can't fill them out on our computers like some folks can, so its partially good for this, though you can (most times) prepare a answer sheet, print the form and someone can swiftly fill it in for you using the sheet you made to go with it.

many articles are "downloaded" from sites in .pdf format now a days and I can usually read them the second time or more with little problem as long as they were readable on the website.

and many documents that are written in some form of text editor all the way up to word (who has an automatic add in now) and translated to pdf is readable and often can be translated back into text by adobe reader if you wish it in an editable format.

its when they either lock the thing up tighter than a chastity belt, or make a pdf from images, and/or turn off the accessibility features and then lock it and password it that they become a major pain in the hind quarters, and this is where password removal tools and OCR programs like Kurzweil, openbook, or for the more thrifty Abby fine reader are hopefully able to decipher the things into something we can use (if its passworded, the OCR programs can't process it, so a little cheat and I'm off and running~)

hope this clarifies things,
