hmmm, this is what's in the bns 2000 manual:

Create file: c (Files with no extension or with an extension of brl, brf, bfm or br? [any third character] will be grade 2 files. All other files will be assumed to be Computer braille.)

so if your files have no extentions they are considered grade 2 braille. if you have the extention of .txt that should be considered computer braille.
