Hello Mike, I sent you a separate Email with the attached text file. What I had to do is open the .PPT file in PowerPoint 2007 and publish it to a .PDF file. This was done by using the Office button and then using down arrow key to the SaveAs menu. In the submenu for SaveAs was a menu item for saving as a PDF. When using that item choice the .PPT file was actually published to a .PDF file and Adobe Reader opened with the text present and intact. Selecting all text and copying it to the clipboard from the PDF file worked better when pasted into a blank text file than just saving it from Adobe as a text file. When using the Save as a text file in Adobe, text remained when pasted but there were a lot of blank lines. After pasting selected and copied text the result was better.
Take care. Brian Lee [email protected] -----Original Message----- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Mike B. I also tried saving it as .pdf file with no luck. I also tried opening the .pdf file with the Freedom Import Printer & it showed nothing as well. When I tried to save the .pdf file as a text file, the only option in the save as list was Adobe. 1 other question, is ther a way to save the music , extract the music, from a .pps file? The .pps file is about the history of the military song, Taps. Again, thank you very much for your help. Take care. Open the .PPT file in PowerPoint 2007. 2. Publish the presentation as a handout in Word. You can do that by pressing Alt followed by F followed by U Followed by H to get into the "Send to Microsoft Word" dialog box. 3. Tab to the group of radio buttons that let you pick the pasting layout in Word. 4. Use down arrow to the "Outline only" radio button. 5. Tab to the OK button and press spacebar. 6. Use Alt+tab until in the Word document and the text should all be in that file. I hope this works for you. Another method is to save the .PPT as a PDF file and then convert the .PDF to text. However, the first method seems to work well. Take care. Brian Lee [email protected] -----Original Message----- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Mike B. I also tried sending the file to Word & choosing the Outline option but, that didn't place the text into a Word doc either, any other suggestions of getting the text out of this file? All your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks again. Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! Take care. If you open it through Windows Explorer then it goes into show mode and you don't have the menu bar. You might try browsing to it using the open dialog box in PowerPoint. You can also safely rename it to a .PPT file. Opening it as .PPT will cause the file to open in normal presentation mode and not in the show mode. You will likely be able to work with it a lot better simply by renaming the file to a .PPT. Take care. If I try to open the menues with the Alt key nothing opens, & nothing happens when I try to open the file menu with the Alt + F keystroke. The only thing I can get to open is Jaws options, Jaws key + V. Any suggestions why no menues will open? Thank you very much. Take care. Hit your f12 key tab to file type arrow down to outline rtf and then save. You might want to check and make sure your getting all the content from some sample slides, but this has usually worked well for me when I've needed to use it. -----Original Message----- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Mike B. Is it possible to select the text from all 15 slides at 1 time? If so, how would I do it & if not how do I select the text from the individual slides? I tried using slect all on the individual slides using the Jaws append to clipboard feature but, I ended up having the text from 1 slide overriding another & got multiple copies of the same text in various areas of the Word document I pasted the text into. I am running Office 2007, XP Home, Jaws 13 & 14. All help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you all very much. Take care. Mike This email was sent from my, iBarstool.
