I reject your comment regarding clicks. I have never seen any evidence of
such activities on this list. Often times people do not receive answers to
their questions if nobody knows the proper response. 

Personally I would not want to read 600 messages saying "I don't' know".

It is called the preview pain. I don't use that or I would tell you how to
shut it off, but look around view menu, layout.
