spyware, viruses, bad hardware? Could be any of the above. If I had it
in front of me I'd boot it off a memtest disk or flash drive and get
somebody to check the results for starters. Next I would probably go
over to trendmicro.com and run their free online scan, sometimes even
the best antivirus programs miss things, a second opinion can be
helpful. If none of that gave me anything I'd install speedfan and look
at its disk diagnostics.
