Well, I did it the other day, using an accessible link that someone on
another link had given me and I had to be sure that I unchecked the item
which is checked by default which gives you stuff that we don't want.
http://get2.adobe.com/flashplayer/
and hit the X Quick Navigation key and it immediately jumps to the checkbox.
I unchecked the box and then arrowed to install. I have I E 9 so it asked me
if I wanted to run the installation, I think. I assume I've done this
properly because I haven't seen that reminder about having to update flash
player since I did it two days ago and I haven't seen anything unusual on my
computer.

I'm not sure Miriam, but I think some people are saying that if you choose
update automatically you will get the Google stuff you don't want. Will
someone please clarify.

I think I managed to update the flash player today but it would be nice if
it updated automatically. But when I found it in the control panel, I didn't
know how to find the advanced tab. I did find something with buttons to be
checked with the jaws cursor, but it was the flash manager or something like
that.

Gerald,

You can go to control panel, flash player, advanced tab, have the radio
button checked to have Adobe update flash automatically or notify you of
updates.

You can then try the check for update button.

You will still get that google toolbar option if you do a download.

I'd recommend installing secunia Personal Software Inspector which will also
notify you if you have outdated programs.
