Because troubleshooters often are starting with the obvious answers, even if
they don't make sense. Second, the last thing they'll do is admit that they
have an issue on their end. And, for the life of me, I don't understand
what smtp would have to do with the inability to browse to a page in
Internet Explorer. If anything, I'd be able to buy a dns issue, but smtp
has to do with sending messages through a mail client.
Take my advice, I don't use it anyway.

that is what I thought. I still do not understand why the trouble shooter
tells me that it is an smt problem. I do not have email opened at the
time.

SMTP has nothing to do with IE, it is in fact an email concern. The
connection issue might be on their end although they will not be overly
quick to reveal that fact. If you can connect with browser 1 then browser
2
for example should have no problem at all.

A complex system that does not work is invariably found to have evolved
from
a simpler system that worked perfectly.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] page can not be displayed
I just had a marathon session with verizon. Quite frequently I receive the
page can not be displayed in I.e. When I do the trouble shooter I am told
that the smt server is not responding. He told me that that is usually an
email problem. He had me try firefox and jumping around a few links the
error did not come up. He thinks that the problem is within my computer.
His
first suggestion is to remove IE and reinstall it. Not sure if I really
should do this, I have many bookmarks. I am using win 7 on a 32 bit
machine.
Any thoughts?
