Hello Lenny, I had a similar problem with Word when using Windows 7 and an earlier version of JAWS. The problem I was having is that the winword.exe processes were not closing. Go into your task manager by using CTRL with shift and escape key. In the processes page see how many instances of winword.exe are running. Select each of them and use the "end task" button to stop them. This will at least prevent you from having to restart the system. I don't remember if the problem was resolved with doing a repair on the office installation or by installing a newer version or build of a version of JAWS. I hope you get it worked out. Take care.
