Did you try add new hardware wizard?

The other thing that I've had issues with on one of my computers is that the system doesn't recognize the USB hub. If you connect a device, you get the chime but it does not recognize the device. If I run a system restore to when I knew the things were working, it comes up fine again.

First, Rich, see this article from Microsoft and try the different methods they suggest. Also note they have a related article for other workarounds if the ones here ddon't work.

Another issue is that your computer may have OHCI in suspended state. YOu can go here to have Microsoft automatically apply a registry change or you can do it yourself

Just a couple suggestions.
Take my advice, I don't use it anyway.

Yes, the devices are turned on.
I mentioned earlier that I have a USB hub in that port and that does not show up, other than in the "add hardware" list. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mike B." <[email protected]>

Hi Rich,

Are the devices turned on? They may not show up if they're not turned on.

Take care.

One device is a cell phone and the other is a "leap frog" reading device.

Hi Rich,
Not everyUSB device shows up in the list of drives.
What type of device is it?

Hi all
I hope the subject line is accurate.
I have XP pro and 14.0.
I am unable to find devices I plug in to my USB port .
I go to "my computer" and I see a list that includes "C" drive and CD,
etc.
but , not, the new device I plug in to the front of the PC through a USB
port.
There is a USB hub.
When I go in to control panel and add new hardware, I see a bunch of USB
items with useless labels.

I've looked through the items in the "C" drive but nothing looks like the
device

The software has been installed, and I hear the "ding" when I plug the
different devices in.
I assume that whenever a device is plugged in to the USB, I would see it
listed as "F" drive or something like that, in "my computer".

I don't see anything listed when I hit insert F 10 or 11 either.
Thanks for any help.

I don't have this problem on my other PC that is XP home.
