Hi Susie, Let me first state that I don't use Windows Live Mail but, I just happened to have this note on hand.
Creating a message rule in Windows Live Mail. These instructions are for the wlm version that has ribbons. To create a message rule, firstly create a folder if one has not already been created. To create a folder, from the In box, press the alt key, you should hear home. Now press the right cursor key and you will hear folders. Now press the down cursor key and you will hear new folder, press the enter key. You will now hear new folder, give it a name and press the tab key once, , cursor up or down until you hear In box and then press the tab key one more time to ok and press the enter key. (Make sure you use the tab key and not the enter key when you give the folder a name.) Your folder has now been created. Now the message rule, for these instructions I will use the folder jaws and the email address as [email protected] 1. From the In box, press the alt key and cursor right or left until you hear folders. 2. Cursor down and you will hear new folder, press the left cursor key and you will hear message rules, press enter. 3. Tab once to new rule and press enter. (a new list of options will now appear.) 4. The first set of options is in a list of check boxes. Cursor down until you hear "where the to line contains people" press the spacebar to check this option. 5. Press the tab key once and you will land in another list of options, the first one is "send it to the specified folder" press the spacebar on this option to check it. 6. Now press the tab key again and you will land in another options box but this one doesn't have check box's. Cursor down until you hear where the to line contains people, press enter. You will hear type one name at a time, this is where you type in the name of the group you are creating the message rule for, in my case I would either paste an email address or type [email protected] then press the tab key once and you will hear add. Press the enter key. 7. You are now put back in the previous list, cursor down and it will say "where the to line contains people and the email address of the group you have just added. Now press the tab key four times until you hear ok and press enter. 8. Now cursor down again from this point and you will hear Move it to the specified folder, press enter on this line. A list of your folders will appear, cursor up or down un till you hear the folder name where you want the emails to go, once on the folder name, press the tab key once to ok and press enter. 9. The rule as now been created and the various options have been applied, but we are not done yet. 10. At this point press the tab key once, this is where you give the message rule a name (for future use just in case you want to modify it later). Type in a name, in my case "jaws group." At this point tab to save rule and press enter. 11. We now need to tell the message rule what to do with the message (emails) when they come into your computer. After you have named the message rule, tab again until you hear "apply message rule now" and press the spacebar. Tab one to "select all" and press the spacebar. Now tab to the browse button and press enter. Cursor up or down until you find in box. Tab once to ok and press enter. Press the tab key until you hear apply message rule now and press the spacebar. Wait a couple of seconds and a dialog box will appear informing you that the message rule as been applied, press the spacebar on the ok button then press the tab key again until you hear ok and press the spacebar. You will now be placed back in your in box, job done. 12. Jim 13. Take care. Mike Global warming?
