is your volume settings in your system tray? If so, enter on it, then arrow to volume options and enter again. now tab to where it says, real teck high definition audio and make sure it's highlighted, the one below it is the one that gets you in trouble with no speech/sounds or so it's been my experience.

But, no sounds, including the Microsoft tones. Is there a "silent" mode that I need to access? Or, a mute button? My sighted wife was unable to get the volume to work.
