Good man, actually I know what they are and when I had 2 wireless systems in
this house I took a shot. My niece is giving me her old lap top tomorrow for
me to use as my media machine which I will make wireless since I have an
extra card for that purpose. Then I will take another shot at it once all of
the tryptophan is gone from my body.

from google;

An ad hoc network is a temporary connection between computers and devices
used for a specific purpose, such as sharing documents during a meeting or
playing multiple-player computer games. You can also temporarily share an
Internet connection with other people on your ad hoc network, so those
people don't have to set up their own Internet connections. Ad hoc networks
can only be wireless, so you must have a wireless network adapter installed
in your computer to set up or join an ad hoc network.

I am getting another test machine tomorrow so I will be able to try it again
someday soon, thanks for the clarification on the spelling.

David,
I haven't done this yet, but appears that it is a connection between at
least 2 wireless devices.
The proper spelling is "Ad Hoc"
Below is the only reference I have on it right now:

I have tried unsuccessfully so far to accomplish this task, but then again
not with much gusto. My question is has anybody out there done this
successfully?

Right now I only have a single wireless device as my test system has gone to
the happy hunting ground so to speak.

This just sounds like a fun project, there might even be a tutorial some
fine day when I can give my snow shovel the day off.
