David,
Remember that many programs that were released when XP was king, still work great under Win 7. A few examples of ones which I use include MP3 Direct Cut and Juice.

Also, XP systems which are not attached to the Internet will serve their owners for a long time to come. Finally, virtual machines and XP mode on Win 7 Pro provide a great way to run those programs which will not work in native Win 7. And although I am sure that they exist, I have not run across a single old program which I have not been able to get working under Win 7.

So, don't get too frisky with the delete key!

Best,
John

Subject: [JAWS-Users] working on the web site

Here lately I have been removing items that are no longer or are soon to be relevant. This afternoon I am fiddling with the audio page removing a lot of the XP material that will soon be a non-issue. Sadly that is a large part of
the page, but the good thing is that will free up a lot of space making it
available for new stuff. With luck as time moves along I will be able to
populate it with more Windows 7 material and if anybody has any
contributions they feel would benefit others please let me know.

I don't have any plans to obtain a Windows 8 system at this point so if any
such material ends up there it will have to come from somebody else. Just
keeping you folks in the loop in case anybody starts to wonder why links are
disappearing.

A complex system that does not work is invariably found to have evolved from
a simpler system that worked perfectly.
