Hi Mike,
I followed the entire tread on this mail.
I notice that, if protected view in accessibility technical system is enable
when trying to read a PDF doc, the jaws narrator said, I had to disable the
accessibility technical system for the adobe reader to work properly and
spoke some directions that I didn't get.
Maybe, that's why he's not getting any feedback from the reader like me???

If, anyone knows how to disable the accessibility technical system , can you
please expain how to disable it.

Thanks,
                                Jorge

Hi Jim,

I found a note from when I asked how to assign files to programs. The notes
are below:

Hi All,

How do you assign / associate file types to be opened with specific programs
in Windows7? I went to Tools / Options & didn't find the File Types tab /
page! Where is it?! LOL LOL Do you use the context menu exclusively to
assign / associate file types with specific programs in Widows7? If the
File Types Tab / Page exists, would someone please tell me where it is? All
help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks much, take care.
Mike

Type "file association" in the search window, and you'll be deposited there.

In Windows 7 I typed file extension into the search box. I arrowed down to
make a file type always open in a specific program. I entered on that. I
chose dot doc files. Word 2010 was the default. I chose WordPad. When I
opened a doc file there was gibberish. I then went back and chose Jarte.
Now when I enter on a doc file it opens and is readable in Jarte.

Thanks for asking the question Mike because now it is easier to open my
multitude of doc files! Rather than opening Jarte and using the open dialog
I can just enter on a doc file and it opens in Jarte.

You can type, control, in the Run Dialogue box & press enter, this will take
you to the Control panel, press the letter D, to find Default Programs. You
should be able to assign / associate file types here as well.

Take care.

I have 11. But I have another question. I have a pdf file here, and when I
open it
to read it, jaws says nothing at all. I don't get the message about empty
document
or image file or anything. Jaws says nothing. I know the pdf file is a good
one,
because I sent it to my sighted wife and it reads on her computer just fine.

So
what does that mean? Before I had adobe on this computer I had Q reed on
here, and
it wouldn't read it either. Jim
