Hi Greg.

If you have Omnipage or Fine reader installed on your computer, you can do the following: If the document with the graphical scanned text is attached to a mail, than save it first. Goto Explorer, and highlight the document, and press the context menu button, matching the right mouse button, an select either the Omnipage or Fine reader submenu, and open it, and than convert to MS Word. After a few second's, you have a .doc file matching the filename to the original document, and try now to open it, and see, if it dos'nt give more accessible readable text.

If you cannot find the Omnipage or Fine reader submenu in your Context menu, than you must first open the installed scanning software, and her i am only aware of, how Omnipage Work's.

Start Omnipage, and when ready, press alt+p to the Process menu.
Arrow down to "Get Page" submenu, and open it.
Press enter on "Start".
Press Shift+Tab to the list view, and highlight the propriated document.
Wait a few seconds to let the document be opened and press than again Alt+P to the Process menu, and arrow now down to the ocr submenu, and open it.
Press enter on "Start".
Wait again a few second's, to let the ocr process be finished,
press now Alt+P, and arrow down to "Save As" submenu, and open it.
Before typing a filename, Tab to the Compobox where you select, that the output have to be in clear text, and which filetype you want to get the document saved in. Shift+Tab back to the filename field, and type in here, and tab to OK and press enter.
Now you have a readable document in your Documents list.

Good luck!

Hans Pauli.

I would advse you to use Firefox, for you wil have to enter a capcha to be
able to upload the file you want to convert.
I hope this helps.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Reading emails where text is an image

I am using Jaws 13 on a windows 7 64 bit computer. I sometimes receive
emails where the message content seems to be an image. I cannot figure out
how to read the content using Jaws. I have tried using the built in jaws
OCR function (insert+spacebar+o) selecting both the windows and screen
options without any success. I am using MS Outlook 2007 and also have tried
reading such emails using Windows Live Mail (WLM) without success. Any
hints or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Right now I have to ask
someone sighted if available to read the emails to me.
