Hi Rick, Both those boxes were unchecked & I did apply before okaying but, nothing changed until I went to the context menu & clicked on the remove recent list option. Thank you very much for your help.

Note, Having the first one of these unchecked will also keep recently opened items in the Run dialogue from showing. Since this is a multi-tab dialogue, there is an apply button in case you want to make other changes before hitting the okay button. I've played around turning options on / off in Taskbar & Start Menu properties but, it keeps showing these 5 most recent things run at the top still.
