Unfortunately, the sound file doesn't create a sound for new email alert
messages in the inbox in outlook 2010

Mike,

I think I may have tried that option, i.e., used the native office2010
sounds, but I wasn't happy with the results anyhow. the office97.exe will do
what you would want, I think, and have no effect outside of MS office.
