The only thing I was able to do is uncollapse it.
I open up my tool box and tried a couple sockets and the last I thought I
had it with only one tab and arrow down.

What happened is that I kept trying the alt+downarrow key and finally Jaws
began reading the contents of the combo box as I arrowed up and down. Not
sure whether it took a long time for the combo box to open or what. And as
it turned out even after choosing what I wanted in the combo boxes I still
could not get to what I wanted. Perhaps the site is not configured properly
for screen readers. I was looking for a owner's manual for a car on the
following site:

This is a long shot, try the right arrow to uncollapse the combo box.
What link are you using, so I can take a look at it?

I am using latest Jaws 15 with IE 11 on a windows 7 64 bit computer. I have
encountered a website with a combo box where Jaws says "combo box
collapsed". I have hit the enter key on it and also tried alt+down arrow
and cannot open the combo box with either command. I have also tried
routing the jaws cursor to the virtual cursor without success. Any
suggestions on how to open these types of combo boxes and successfully
navigate them?
