Pinky,

It does work for several people, but not for all. You need to make sure to check the protected setup box when doing the installation.

The spellchecker isn't quite as robust and it is a separate add-on. Also, if you are using it Jaws, you need to modify the Jaws scripts to get them to work with the new program.

David,
Can you please let me know if the Outlook Express works on the Win 7 pc at a
later date after you get done testing it.

It would be greatly appreciated.

I found out the hard way doing such things to the registry can result in
unexpected and often highly annoying consequences.

This is why I stopped doing the windows mail hack some years ago for other
people. Try installing service pack 1 after that and you'll see what fun you
will have.

There is a deal where outlook express is able to run on windows 7 and
although I am not suggesting at this point it be included in the normal
events of the day I am taking it around the block on this test system I
recently inherited for the lack of a better word. Somebody just dropped off
a system for me to fiddle with and I upgraded it from XP to 7 on my own by
adding some extra memory then using a spare license I had on the shelf.

So far the results are good, but like I said this is a system I can recover
in just a few minutes without the fear of losing anything.

This tweak to the registry, which allows XP users to continue receiving
security updates until 2019, while technically not illegal, is strongly
discouraged by Microsoft because they claim that it might cause some
programs not to function properly. So anyone thinking of trying this
registry hack should think twice.

David,

You may not want to do that since there's been a release of a hack
that allows XP to receive updates until 2019.

While Microsoft is not denouncing this hack as being against their
terms of conditions of license, they are saying that people should use
the hack at their own risk since it's mainly for server stations, and
professionals.

Having said that though, it would appear that XP's demise has been
greatly

exaggerated.

This should not affect most of you, but I wanted to let you know that
I am in the process of pulling down much of the material that is
dedicated to XP since it is no longer being supported.

Just by removing the older versions of IE that I had up there dropped
my server usage over 100 MB. I just wish I could find the time to
refill it with more information that is current and I will when it
presents itself.
