Hello Gerald,
One site I use is http://www.speedguide.net/speedtest/ <http://www.speedguide.net/speedtest/> You can test your speed using different participating mirror servers located in various locations. You can press H when the speed test page loads to get just above where you can pick a mirror server closest to you. Press enter on the link for the mirror server you want to use and wait for the test to finish. When the results page loads use H to move to the heading just above the results. As you use down arrow key past an ad you will hear the results. Arrow down to where you hear "download" and then "upload" and your download and upload speeds are given. For example, here is what I just got from one of the mirrors: SG Speed Test Results kbps 2000 4000 6000 8000 10000 download upload ≪ 19454 kbps ↓ ≪ 303 kbps ↑ 19454 kbps down (~19.45 Mbps, 2375 KB/s) ↓ Further details follow that info. You can check your speed this way using different participating mirror servers. Take care. My Internet service provider, Verizon, informed me yesterday that my monthly bill for DSL broadband service would be increasing by $5 per month starting this month. So I called their customer retention help line and complained and was offered a free upgrade of my DSL service to "DSL enhanced". But to insure that they really upgraded my DSL service, I would like to test my internet speed. Can anyone recommend a JAWS-accessible internet speed test site that does not require installing Java, and whose results are easily interpretable? Thanks.
