Hi A pane is an area of your screen. Think of the windows in your home. They can have one pane of glass, or they may have multiple panes of glass. The list of messages is a pane. If it's the only pane visible, it will cover the entire window. If other panes are visible, the list of messages pane will be smaller on the screen. But there are two other panes that you can choose to show on the screen or not. If you choose to show them, they will take up space on the screen which will reduce the number of messages that are actually visible. It does not affect arrowing up or down through the messages. The two panes that you can choose to show or hide in Outlook 2010 are the navigation pane and the reading pane. The navigation pane shows the folders that you have in outlook. The reading pane show the first few lines of the message that you're on in the message list, which you can read without having to open the message. If either of these panes is visible, you can move between the message list and the panes by pressing f6. You can choose to show or hide these panes by opening the view menu. To open the view menu while you're in an outlook folder press alt+v. If you're using JAWS virtual ribbons, arrow down to Layout and right arrow to the sub-menu. The first two items are Navigation pane followed by Reading pane. If you don't use the JAWS virtual ribbons, tab until you hear Navigation pane or Reading pane. Press space on either of these and a list will show giving you choices such as normal to show the pane and off to hide the pane, among others. Position on the choice you want and press enter. It is sometimes necessary to go to the navigation pane to perform certain functions such as deleting or renaming an Outlook folder. I believe the consensus among JAWS users is that the reading pane should be turned off. -----Original Message----- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of LeDon Sent: Wednesday, July 30, 2014 07:03 To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] outlook Using outlook ten, when I open outlook it gives me a list of emails in my in box. Is there a discussion somewhere of the paynes that I can read? Thanks. -----Original Message----- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of TheHangMan Sent: Wednesday, July 30, 2014 1:34 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] outlook Hi, AThe reading paine allows you to view email in your inbox or other folder without opening the mail. I use the do not read option, I think is better. https://www.google.com/search?site=&source=hp&q=what+is+a+reading+payne%3F+I n+Outlook&oq=what+is+a+reading+payne%3F+In+Outlook&gs_l=hp.3..0i13j0i22i n+30l2 .6874.25095.0.29897.13.13.0.0.0.0.577.2632.0j10j2j5-1.13.0....0...1c.1.49.hp ..1.12.2031.0.Spp8h3siH4Y -----Original Message----- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of LeDon Sent: Tuesday, July 29, 2014 7:30 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] outlook I'm all bumbfuzzled, what is a reading payne? -----Original Message----- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of david Sent: Tuesday, July 29, 2014 9:42 AM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] outlook Reading Pane in Outlook. These ribbons confuse me, lol. Patti hello; first of all; using the keystroke, ctrl+y=go to folder; so, ctrl+y=go to folder, now press i=inbox press enter. you should now see the messages using the up/down arrow keys. next, you may consider changing the view menu, so, making sure, reading pane is set to off, the to-do-bar is turned off. now, you should be able to use the tab key to cycle between the folder view and the message view. hope this helps. -----Original Message----- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Patti Sent: Tuesday, July 29, 2014 5:53 AM To: jaws users Subject: [JAWS-Users] outlook Hey Gang, My friend is running HP, 8.1, J15, and MS2010.
