If you use the my extensions feature they came out with a couple of years 
ago there is less hassle with third party scripts ETC.

Updates are different than upgrades. A maintenance update within a
version shouldn't break scripts. However, and upgrade, such as from
version 15 to 16 could very well break any 3rd party scripts. This
happens at my work whenever a new version of JAWS comes out. This is why
we wait to upgrade until we are notified that new scripts are available.
