yes, but then it would be needed, not wanted. I'm a simple computer user, and since being on the jaws user list, most of the topics that come up, I'm lost about, so I have no need to upgrade

If what is working for you then you can keep what you have no problem. But
if you would buy a new computer then it probably have MS 8.1 on it and then
you would need the latest jaws because it is written for the new operating

I suppose it all depends on what you are mainly using jaws for.
Some are major sticklers for office applications, then we have the
compatibility for the OS's.

Forget that last point, lol.
But, it's always good to look at what's new  so you can decide yourself.
