Hi Robert,
Does it occur on both of your alt keys? On Diane's, it doesn't. (if it
were a sticky key issue it should occur on both left and right sides.)
Rebooting did not solve the problem for her, and it only started
happening that day. So your symptoms may not be the same. If I may say
so,your symptoms are like the reocurrence of an old, old, problem in
JAWS that used to happen quite regularly way back in the days of JAWS3x,
and that mysteriously vanished with no known cause or solution.
Rebooting fixed the issue then. Another possible fix is to hit the alt,
shift, and ctrl keys multiple times in quick succession (this sometimes
restores the status quo ante).

Hi Diane,
I encounter the same problem on a daily basis with JFW 15 on
different PCs
running Windows 7. I brought this problem to the attention of
technical
support at Freedom Scientific on several occasions during the last
year. The
technical support folks diagnosed the problem as a sticky control key.
It
has nothing to do with your keyboard layout. And as Mike says below,
the
only way to resolve the problem is to reboot your computer. It would
be
great if you and others encountering this problem would report it to
FS
technical support so they can resolve the problem.
Cheers,
Rob

Hi Flora and Mike. Thanks for the info. Mike, I did reboot the
computer
many times and it did not work. Flora, where do you have your
computer set
to do what you said?

Hi Diane,
I've had this happen before with a different operating system but,
rebooting
the computer always resolved the issue. I'll have to sabe Flor's tip
in
case it happens again.
Take Care.
Mike

Hi,
you've probably changed the keyboard layout from the US keyboard to
a
European (or UK) keyboard. To restore it, the key may be, left alt
plus
shift. If you hear another setting, press those keys again and You
will
eventually land on "setting keyboard layout to US".
