Good Boxing Day morning to all, yesterday I learned of a new tablet that has
been in the market for a month or more that may be the answer for accessible
portable computing.
The HP stream, has a gig of memory, a quad core atom processor, 32 GB of
SSD, an SD slot, Bluetooth 4.0, a full version of Windows 8.1, a year access
to office 365, a microphone/your phone socket, Wi-Fi, and a USB/charging
port. The price runs from around $80 and up.
Has anyone ever tried to load JAWS onto one of these? Apparently about 23
gig is taken up by the operating system leaving you just shy of 10 gig to
play with. Experimentation would probably reveal that some of the operating
system might be removed. The fact that you can use an SD card gives you the
potential for a useful hard drive substitute.
The price is certainly appealing, and if jaws can be squeezed onto it, I'd
buy one in a minute.
Any and all thoughts are more than welcome.
Seasons greetings
Geoff
