In my experience, you have to tell windows what you want to run.  For example, 
"Run CMD" takes you to an old-fashioned  DOS command line.  "Run Msconfig" 
takes you to the main Windows configuration file.  Also, the command remembers 
the last several programs you ran, so, if you use a particular command 
frequently, you can save keystrokes.

Press Windows key and r (should get you to the run menu.  Then type run.  Flash 
should come up.  Press the JAWS key, CNTRL and V simultaneously and the version 
of flash player should come up. JAWS,CNTRL,V is a JAWS command.
