At least up through Office 2007, each version of Office is its own separate software suite, and will show up that way in any uninstall program. You can safely uninstall the older version of office. That said, the only downside of leaving the older version is the amount of disk space the program is taking up. Also, there are some aspects of the newer versions of Office that make JAWS more convoluted to use compared with earlier versions, so you may want to keep that older version if your project involves tasks that are easier to do in the older version.

How about multiple versions of a program? Can I uninstall old Office versions without damaging the current one? I've got Revo, but haven't put it on my current PC. I like it, but never gave it its head, harking back to a sad experience I had with Norton several years ago.

I agree that Revo Uninstaller does a better job of removing all the pieces, especially if you change the filter level from moderate (the default) up to the "thorough" level, which is the highest of the three. A tech friend of mine found this program removed pieces that he had not been able to remove with the standard Windows uninstaller, and it fixed the sluggish performance problem he was having. I have used Revo Uninstaller for a number of years, and always with good effects.

Alan,

From my experience, Revo Uninstaller will remove programs that Windows
cannot remove itself. I think you will find that it does a very thorough
job.

Mike,
As always, a very hopeful post. I am wondering if this program does a better
job than just the standard Windows UnInstaller? I'm not sure windows does as
complete a job as this describes. What is your experience?

Best,
Alan

Hi Kevin,

You can get the Revo Uninstaller at:

www.ninite.com

Here are some basic steps on how to use the program:

It probably isn't the most intuitive program ever made, but in a normal
situation it's like a wizzard process.

1. find the program you want to uninstall in a list of programs that
first comes up when you start the program. You need to use first letter
navigation to do this or, use your arrow keys because I haven't found a
way
to
put all the programs into list view.

2. With the program highlighted that you want to remove, open the context
menu and press enter on uninstall. You will get a dialogue asking if
you're
sure you want to remove this program, tab to the yes option & press the
spacebar.
3. Now it's time to choose the level at which revo uninstaller does its
job. So, Shift + tab, into the options list. you have 4 modes Built-in,
Safe, Moderate, & Advanced. I always choose
advanced because some programs love to leave registry entries and little
traces of themselves everywhere.
These are radio buttons, so just choose the appropriate one.

4. Hit the next button and Revo will go to work and uninstall your
program, so sit back for a minute or two.

5. This is when the fun really starts. After you hit the next button,
Revo will display a number of left over files and registry entries from
the program. hit the tab key and you should find a select all
button, and a delete button. so first hit select all, followed by
delete. You'll get a warning asking if you really want to do this?
Answer yes. It'll then delete any files left over. Now depending on
how the program is, it may next ask you to delete registry entries, this
is the same as left over files. Don't worry, this is safe to do because
it only deletes the registry entries that are for the application you're
uninstalling, it won't delete anything else but that. So do the select
all and delete thing again and answer yes. Sometimes, you might even
see a screen that just has a tree view, but it has nothing displayed. In
that case just do what you would normally do and hit select all and
delete and that'll do it. After all that is done revo will display a
dialogue with a finish button.
Hit that, and you're done. you can then delete another program or close
the program it's up to you. Sometimes you need to use the, Insert + F10,
keystroke to open the Jaws task list & find the Revo remove option & press
enter
because you'll have landed on a blank window so you need to bring Revo
back
into focus.

I hope this helps explain things a bit better.

Take care.
Mike

Kevin,

Do an internet search for a program called Revo Uninstaller, download and
install it, run the program, and see if the program in question shows up
in
the list that will be there when the program opens. If it is not there,
tab
down to the edit box and type in the location string to where the .exe
file
resides, something like c:\program files (x86)\iobit....\iobit...exe, and
then tab to the OK or Uninstall button and press enter on it. This is a
free
program, and can be very effective at removing stubborn programs. Good
luck.

Hi Kevin,

If you find the program in your Program Files or Program Files X86
folders,
look inside the program folder & see if there's an uninstall.exe there &
try
that & see if that will get rid of it.
Take care.
