There is a free program called Rodex, which of course is like a Rolodex file. With this program, you have a card for each contact, and you can write their information in any manner that you want. I always put the name, the address, phone number, and then email address. You can create a new card file for different types of contacts, such as personal friends, family, and business contacts. You then save these card files to your computer, and name them according to their contents. When a card file is opened, you can then flip from one card to another, or choose to have all of the names listed on your screen to be able to click on the one that you want to view the information on. You would have to do an internet search for the download, because I do not remember who makes the software.

I have just started to compile my contact list using Excel.
You can title each columb what you want like first name, last name, phone
number, address, email, notes, birthday, or what ever.

it's same place where your folders are like my documents, downloads,..
I have a shortcut on my desktop starting with letter "T" which stands for
"Trish" so I enter on the T, and it takes me to where all my folders are.
the first one in my list is "contacts"

Are you using windows 7?
I am just wondering cause, window's contacts has several layers of info
pages for entrys on each person, and is saved on your computer.
Whenever I update an entry either via my email client, it's duplicated in
Window's contacts

Window's Contacts can also be synced to other devices outside of Window's.

Hi, sort of a program where you can type the name of a person, then type
there phone number, and keep it in a databass.

Hi Matt,
You are a little vague in what you are asking, is there a particular
way you want to save them?
If not, Notepad is a simple text editor, and has come with every
version of Windows, I'm guessing it is also in Windows 8.
It is what I use for phone numbers, addresses etc.

Tomorrow's another day, another way!
and if tomorrow never comes, problem solved!
