according to Roger Cusson "They are still working on the issue, and I have spoken to their support lead person, and he assures me that they are working on it, they have jaws on their programming computer to test for accessibility and they will keep me updated...". and will let us know when it is screen reader friendly. he is an adaptive technology specialist and has helped them to make the necessary modifications.

There is an icon in the notification area that always tells you of Vipres condition, whether it is updated or not, which it ddoes automatically, and it shows the last date and time that the definition update took place. I can also access the quarantine, view the threats that were detected, and delete them if so desired. This is as much as I have been to do with any Antivirus program since using JAWS,and all that I have ever been able to do with Vipre. All other settings, i.e. the firewall etc. are accessible too. I do not know if Freedom Scientific is working directly with Threat Track Security, but things got much better with this last JAWS update. Just my observations, not meant to upset anyone. I think there's a distinction to make between a program being accessible versus being screen reader friendly, in that a program that is screen reader friendly allows a blind user to utilize that program more effectively rather than that program just being accessible, which does not promote useability by the blind user. especially with a security suite, one has to respond in a timely manner, and for blind users, we need to be able to do the same. the more screen reader friendly a program is, the more frequently a blind user will use said program. I welcome any thoughts, but not to much as to upset the moderators. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kevin Lee" <klee...@gmail.com> To: <jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com> Sent: Tuesday, March 03, 2015 10:56 AM Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] antivirus(vipre 2015) I installed vipre antivirus 2015 and I found that even with jaws 16 vipre only work partially. jaws can announce the buttons of operation but not the progress of the virus scan. I also had problems accessing the settings to tell vipre how to behave, I couldn't enter the settings. vipre 2015 may work to prevent viruses but a I didn't know what was going on when it was working. -----Original Message----- From: Mike Boyd Sent: Tuesday, March 03, 2015 12:29 AM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] antivirus Hi James, I use Vipre Internet Security, and I also run MalWare Bytes along with it. I cannot say that it is absolutely necessary to run both, but I have had Malware Bytes find things that Vipre did not, and they both are good products. As far as being compatible, they do work well together, but you must install Vipre first, as it will remove any other antivirus/malware software it finds on your computer during its installation. Vipre 2015 was not very JAWS compatible but the latest update of JAWS did make it more compatible, and I find that it works well now.
