I think Google is showing you instant results. Go into the Settings, Search Results area and disable instant results. That makes it more compatible with screen readers.

My problem is that whenever I enter a new screen on the Internet and down arrow several times GOOGLE pops up with a list of formerly used search terms. It is hard to get out of this screen and I often have to F4 out and start over again. I find GOOGLE very useful, but I want to choose when I need it. I try minimizing USING the down-arrow KEY but often forget when exploring an unfamiliar WEB Page. How can I prevent this?
