I don't think I've ever had a real installation disk since DOS 7. Everything
has been OEM. I got the Office 2013 disk directly from Ms, at a special price
for state employees--not as cheap as Windows 10, but chump change nonetheless.
I hope to upgrade my ISP soon, but I imagine 3GB would be a heck of a file at
home speeds.

Hi Ted,
It is my understanding that the days of Windows installation disks being
available in retail establishments is over, but a trip to Microsoft.com may
clear that up.

Tomorrow's another day, another way!
and if tomorrow never comes, problem solved!

It would be nice if they'd make disks available, the way they did for office
2013, or the way they did for the Y2K hoopla years ago, but I'll bet they
won't.

It seems to me that if you have Automatic Updates set to download and
install, then Windows 10 will be downloaded.
However, this is an optional update, so you may be given the choice of
installing or not.
Because I like to know what is being installed on my systems, I have
Automatic Updates, set to notify me of updates, but let me choose when to
download and install them.
Windows 10 is a 3gb download, so I want to know when it is being downloaded.
For more specific information, folks should consult the Microsoft website
about Windows 10.

I got the same message. If I select yes. What this mean? Will it attempt to
download without asking? I figure we will need to wait until jaws 17 for
those who are using jaws to use 10.

Hi Jorge,
If you are referring to the "Get Windows 10", in the system tray,
this is an offer from Microsoft to reserve your copy of Windows 10 when it
becomes available.
As has been stated by Microsoft, this is a free upgrade to Windows 10
for all users of Windows 7, 8 and 8.1.
You can get more information by pressing enter on the icon, and choosing
from the resulting menu.

Hi,

If, I accept the download, is this program temporary free, until you have to
buy it?
