A correction to point out that the programs tab is in the internet options.

Hi

In Windows 8.1, there are two versions of Internet explorer. One version is
for the desktop and looks pretty much the same as in earlier Windows
versions. I presume that the other version is for touch screen tablets.
When you press alt+t, does JAWS say anything? If no, try a SayLine to see
where you are and maybe you might just be in the Tools menu. It sounds like
you're using the tablet version, which I don't know if it uses menus or
ribbons. You could try pressing just alt and arrowing around to find the
tools menu. Once you can get into the tools menu, go to the Programs tab in
internet options and press tab to move to the first item which is a combo
box that gives you three choices for which version to run. You want to
select the always use the desktop version.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] need help with windows 8.1

Hi,

I have just gotten a new Lenovo computer with Windows 8.1 and I'mtrying to
learn how to navigate JAWS and Windows. One of the things I want to do is
to change my homepage on the net but alt t isn't bringingup the tools menu.
Do I need to do a different key stroke or set some kine of JAWS settings
differently?

thanks,

Dacia
