That is a problem with two of the three Dell computers I have had that they
are so quiet, I didn't get any clues from my tower. With this great big one
I got a couple of years back, the fan works so hard with the hard drive on
net sites like Facebook and Dow Jones, that it sounds almost like a truck in
second gear. I'd rather that than that silent treatment, giving no clue
about the tower, if, indeed anything at all is going on there.

I totally forgot about that.Many years ago I had the shut down sound as a
toilet flushing and the start up as HI HO it's off to work we go. These I
had on my work computer. will have to look into doing that again. Not
sure
where they are located in this win 7 computer. I do not think it will be
